ABOUT ME

My name is Nicolas Seymour, or Nic for short. I come from many backgrounds of work experience from trades to sales, and now Game Design. Im eager to learn anything new and apply any skills I have to my future.

As a passionate and motivated professional, I’m constantly striving to improve my techniques, expand my skillset and find new opportunities to grow. After doing many different types of jobs and meeting so many great people, I have realized I am most happy in games, whether I am playing them, creating my own, helping others make theirs.

My goal is to work with a passionate and dedicated team of creators, and eventually have a deep enough knowledge to teach those who also want to make games.

My dream job is to work for Playground Games as a Technical Designer on the Forza team, I grew up building cars, selling cars, and racing cars, and have played Forza since the original Motorsport, to say the least, im addicted to cars more than I am FPS games.

CREATING IMMERSIVE GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCES

Becoming a Game Designer was the best choice I could have made, and so far in the Industry I have had the opportunity of learning:
  • Programming: I am experienced in Blueprints and knowing architecture of Unreal Engine, and I am intermediate with C++ and have a good understanding of multiplayer, replication, and using online services like Steam and EOS.
  • Level & Mission Design: paper level design, blockout/greyboxing, environment art, mission implementation, iteration and optimization.
  • Modern Workflows: from old school Sub-Levels, to World Partition, Data Layers, HLODs, Packed Level Actors, and Level Instances, I have used them all, and highly appreciate the work put into the new tech and can't wait for more.
  • Immersive World Building: encapsulating gameplay through level design, and environmental storytelling.
  • Technical Design: scripting, world optimization, modular asset creation, and editor tools.
  • UI/UX Design: creating and implementing exhilarating and vibrant, intuitive UI, I also have experience working with Common UI, Common Input, and most Common UI features which help provide controller support for UI in Unreal Engine.
  • Animation: I am no professional animator, but love doing it for fun, and have a pretty deep understanding of the tools for animating using the Level Sequencer and Control Rigs in Unreal Engine. Whether it be tips and tricks within the sequencer for cinematic purposes, or specific tricks for creating gameplay animations using the Control Rig, I have used all of it, and like to try to push the power of Unreal Engine to be one of the only tools I need.

CRAFTING WORLDS WITH A PECULIAR ATTENTION TO DETAIL

I cannot wait to learn more about video games and one day be a part of the next generation of great developers that will take game development to the future.

I have always loved to play games, I have also always had a passion for designing, and being the best educator I can be to help my fellow associates, and/or team, succeed.

I have always had respect for the design of anything amazing in the world, whether it be architecture, cars, or scientific feats. and mysteries of the world. Being in the game industry, has taught me to have way more respect for design than I ever have, and a completely different view and appreciation for the world and technology.

I have no problem doing what it takes to be at the top, and becoming part of the future of video games.

WHY I LOVE GAMES

This site is currently a work in progress and I am in the midst of creating a whole new portfolio website, to keep you more up to date with my work.

I have recently been laid off from my previous job which is not on my portfolio yet, and I have since self-published my own game on Steam, Code-Black.

I will be sharing extensive documentation about my creation of Code-Black and everything I have learned the past 2 years in the industry (which is about the last time I overhauled this portfolio).

For now, you can still see my work on Alpha Response, and visit Code-Black on Steam to see what I have been cookin up!
